The publicity about this duo was not wrong. “Virtuoso Mandolin, elegant vocals, guitar and fiddle wizardry”. In addition they delighted us with humour, wit and anecdotes from Simon’s book entitled “Of Death and a Banana Skin” I particularly enjoyed “The Stick”. Who could write a humorous story about a stick he found when out walking? Simon did, and on a paper bag! It’s a good tale.
Their professionalism shone as their musical abilities were top class. You don’t find many virtuoso mandolin players around, and to be extremely talented on Violin too, reflected hard work, a love of music and entertainment. Hilary has a delightful velvety voice, she was mesmerising! Both artists were superb. Musical timing was spot on and we were treated to a couple of pieces performed by Hilary on her much cherished mandobass.
The audience in The Brigg Servicemen’s Club gave a unanimous vote for VERY SATISFIED in their feedback, the highest accolade. Thank You to everyone who came and supported BLA.
